General description of the collection: The A.T. McNamara photograph collection consists of a photographic tour of the Jeffersonville Quartermaster Depot, Jeffersonville, Indiana. The laboratories are responsible for assigned and initiated research as well as the development covering mechanical, non-mechanical, and textile items. The technical activities include physical testing, preparation, revision, and editing of specifications. Also included is the drafting and design, experimentation, development, research, and all other technical functions related to research and development. These photos show the shops, desks, and labs pursuing these functions.

Andrew Thomas McNamara (b. May 14, 1905, East Providence, R.I.-d. Apr. 6, 2002, Fort Belvoir, Virginia), Lieutenant General in the U.S. Army, graduated from West Point in 1928. He served with the 35th Infantry in Hawaii, transferred to the Quartermaster Corps in 1937, and in 1942 became Chief Quartermaster of the II Corps which established the principal supply line in North Africa.
